For New Drum Set Students
What do need to begin?
Drum Sticks (5A is an average size), 3 ring binder or Spiral bound notebook. Practice Pad, Metronome, Stereo Isolation Headphones, and the desire to learn
How much should I practice?
Practicing is necessary if you want to learn how to play drums. No matter how good the teacher, real improvement can only happen with hard work and practice on the part of the student.
It is best to practice until you have grasped the material listed in your practice outline. Everyone learns at a different rate but a good place to begin is 30 minutes a day. Try to practice at the same time daily so you eventually develop a routine. Also, practice away from distraction where you will not interfere with others.
How will I know what to practice?
Each week I will create a lesson outline during your lesson in your notebook. This will guide you what to practice and what to prepare for the next lesson.
